Shem came over for a coffee and then we headed off into the fray. Shem drove to the beach whilst I loaded up the wheelbarrow and walked across. I decided to go out with the 5m and was on the water while Shem was still pumping up his kite. I decided to ahve afew runs whilst keeping an eye on him so that I could help him launch.

The 5m was plenty and I was stacked with it, but hangin on OK and thought I'd get into the swing of things with it. A couple of nice runs and then I looked around for Shem and he had gone. back to the beach to find him, but there was no sign of him, just a couple of desserted boards on the beach.... Then I saw him coming back from the golf course. Apparently his kite had blown away and he had to run after it to retrieve it. Not much damage done though which was lucky as it was abrand new kite. I then sat on his kite for a while to give him chance to untabgle his lines and then helped him launch and off we went.

The wind had filled in even more by now and the 5m was more than enough. We both had a few runs and then I came in to contemplate changing down. Shem came in too but had nothing smaller so packed up.

I then went back out with my 4.5m which was just perfect. maxed out most of the time, but just enough control for some big jumps and flat out blasts down the faces of the waves. It was all a bit bumpy out there, but the first hundred yards or so on the way out was a mad jump-fest off the white water and smaller waves, then there was a big patch of deep water with no breaking waves, but mad head high chop coming from all directions, followed by miles of massive swells out the back, many of them mast high and trying to get me!!

I stayed out for quite a while and had an excellent sail... More of the same tomorrow please.
